The rain-affected race at Silverstone took a toll on most of the drivers, where 90,000 fans packed the Silverstone circuit which saw seven of the twenty F1 cars on the track retiring due to spin.
Lewis Hamilton now leads the drivers standing in the F1 World Championship with 48 points with his third win of the season at the British Grand Prix yesterday.
Starting from fourth on the grid, when he took the lead from the fourth round, Hamilton never looked back. He finished in 1:39:09.440
The soggy Silverstone, where rain had totally soaked the track slippery, saw King Lewis and Team McLaren-Mercedes benefited from a near-perfect tyre-change strategy.
He lapped all but two of the F1 field drivers and his nearest competitor was Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber (+68.5 secs) who was over a minute away.
In third was Honda’s Rubens Barrichello (+82.2 secs) who deservedly stood at the podium. His last podium finish was four years ago with Ferrari
Now Hamilton has catapult into the lead with a total of 48 points leveled with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. Kimi Raikkonen also has the same points as Massa and Hamilton after finishing fourth at Britain GP (+1 Lap). Felipe Massa has a torrid race and finished 13th (+2 Lap)
In the constructors point, Ferrari is still in the commanding lead with 96 points and BMW Sauber affirm their status as the new challenger of the constructor with 82 points ranked second.
