Jenson Button appointed MBE by the Queen

Jensen Button and Ross Brawn appointed the MBE and OBE respectively
Want to be appointed an MBE? Well easy, just win a Formula One title.
Current F1 champion Jenson Button was appointed MBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
Button was quoted, “This really is the crowning glory to what has been the most incredible year of my life. To be recognised by the Queen and the British people is a tremendous honour.”
The Queen didn’t stop there, she also appointed the OBE to Ross Brawn, the brain behind the Brawn GP double title scoop this season.
The former technical director for Benetton and Ferrari it seems has a midas touch, can now add eight titles under his belt, seven from Schumacher, and one from Button.
MBE and OBE are “The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire” which is an order of chivalry established on 4 June 1917 by George V of the United Kingdom.
The Order includes five classes in civil and military divisions. In decreasing order of seniority, these are:
- Knight Grand Cross (GBE) or Dame Grand Cross (GBE)
- Knight Commander (KBE) or Dame Commander (DBE)
- Commander (CBE)
- Officer (OBE)
- Member (MBE)
