The 2010 Italian Grand Prix (formally the LXXXI Gran Premio Santander d’Italia) will be the fourteenth round of the 2010 Formula One season. It will be held in Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza Italy next week, on September 12, 2010.

On this classic race track it is all about high speed. In fact it is the fastest race track in the race calendar. And since high-speed is a key for success here, obviously the brakes and the attitude of the car during braking play a decisive role.

Kubica surprisingly finished third at Spa

Well I was surprised that Renault’s Robert Kubica finished third at the recent exciting Belgium Grand Prix. I would think he could have finished better, at most second if not for the screw-up in the pit lanes. Hear what the Pole has to say regarding his race.

Lewis Hamilton wins thrilling Spa race

So far this season, anyone starting from pole usually had a poor start and result. It was along that line, as Mark Webber who started from the front at the Spa had a disastrous start.

It seems his car reacted slow as there were problems with the anti-stall device, and was passed by other drivers as the race began.

The early race front pack consisted of Hamilton, Button, Kubica and Vettel in that order, while Webber was seventh place.

As Hamilton stretched his lead, Button kept close, while there was a growing gap as Kubica began to trail behind.

Vettel the faster car in fourth, was stuck behind Kubica, but when he finally lapped the Renault driver, and chasing Button, disaster struck.

The young German collided with Button as he try to pass him at the sharp Bus Stop chicane.

With the accident, Webber capitalised on the confusion to play catch-up, and admirably finished second.

Mark Webber takes pole at Belgium GP

Mark Webber performance has been a revelation this season, despite being tagged “number 2″ driver at Red Bull.

The Australian secured his first pole of the season at the Spa, and is now a firm favorite considering he won F1′s previous leg in Hungary.

Webber left the best for last during Q3, and held off a challenge by McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who was 0.085 hundreth of a seconds behind, and with that he will start second from the grid.

Renault’s Robert Kubica was third during qualifying.

Fernando Alonso quickest during Spa practice rounds

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was quick off the mark, and handled better than the rest during the practice rounds of the Belgium Grand Prix.

For two consecutive sessions, the Spaniard tops the timing despite the heavy downpour in the first practice session.

When the sky cleared, the 29-year-old extended his lead and chances as favorite by again being fastest during the second practice session.

The heavy rain at the Spa-Francorchamps resulted in two crashes. Virgin Racing’s Timo Glock and Force India ace Tonio Liuzzi, who both crashed within seconds of each other.

Over the years, the Spa course has been modified several times. The track was originally 15 km (9.3 mi) long, but after World War II, the track had some changes.

The Spa has been famous for its unpredictable weather. Frequently drivers are confronted with one part of the course being clear and bright while another stretch is rainy and slippery.
