The 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship has a new addition. There will be a Singapore leg.

It was confirmed on Friday where it was announced by the F1 board consisting of FOM CEO Bernie Ecclestone, Singapore entrepreneur Mr Ong Beng Seng, and the Singapore Tourism Board that a five year deal has been agreed upon

The Singapore leg will feature a street circuit and get this, it will be a night race! The first of such in Formula One

This is really exciting news as we Singaporeans have always been a fan of Formula One and we wish to have our very own Sepang-Malaysia like race. In fact Singapore did host the Grand Prix at the Thomson Road circuit, from 1961 but discontinued in 1973

It has been scheduled for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix to be held around September or October and will be held around the Marina Bay area

Some 80,000 spectator capacity is to be expected and now the newly formed Singapore GP Pte Ltd who now will handle the race edition will have to look into logistics such as grandstand seatings, building new pit areas and a suitable lighting systems that is safe and powerful enough to simulate daylight conditions at night

Hi my name is Sha. I run this Formula One fansite blog. This is not the official Singapore GP website, their link is here. My first real memories of watching TV, when I was young was recalling vivid images of my sporting heroes like Ayrton Senna. With the Singapore GP debuting in my country, I decided to setup a fun blog on F1
