Button tops Spanish GP first practice session
Brawn GP and F1 leader Jenson Button clocked the fastest lap for the first practice session at Circuit de Catalunya earlier today.
Day one of the Spanish Grand Prix saw Button timed at 1:21.799, where the Brawn GP team modification of the car did wonders to the car and helped the Briton to top spot.
He was the only driver with a sub 1:22 timing and the closest to him was Toyota’s Jarno Trulli.
The Italian was clocked at 1:22.154 and looked impressive round the corners.
Team BMW Sauber are looking confident as Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld came third (1:22.221) and fourth (1:22.658) respectively.
Ferrari are still struggling as Massa was ninth (1:22.855) and Räikkönen eleventh (1:22.873).
Defending champion Lewis Hamilton had to settle for a disappointing 14th (1:23.077). His car just wasn’t up to speed.
Next practice session is at 2pm local time.
