To cater to the large crowds during Singapore GP week, here’s LTA plans so far

  • Pedestrians can continue to access all the establishments in the Marina Centre area via the underground CityLink walkway, the existing surface walkways and pedestrian overhead bridges.
  • Access to buildings within the Circuit Park, namely The Esplanade and Singapore Flyer, will be restricted to Formula OneTM ticket holders only when the race is on.
  • A total of 27 public bus services travelling to the Padang and Marina Bay areas will be diverted to the nearest adjacent route.
  • Commuters affected by the bus diversions and road closures also have the option of using a free bridging bus service which connects the City Hall and Bugis MRT stations to the Suntec-Marina Bay and Millenia areas. This bridging bus service will operate from 23 September to 29 September
  • During the period of the road closure, taxis will not be allowed into the road closure areas, unless they are ferrying hotel guests who have a special Hotel Guest Pass
  • Free shuttle bus services from Outram Park, Clarke Quay, Kallang and Lavender MRT stations are available to ferry race ticket holders to the vicinity of the Circuit Park.
  • At the end of the race, these shuttle bus services will also be available to ferry race goers back to the respective MRT stations.
  • Over the race weekend, all MRT services will run till 1.30am, while the free shuttle bus services for ticket holders will run till 1.00am.
  • Dispersal time from the Circuit Park is expected to take up to 1.5 to 2 hours. Race goers may want to patronise the various fringe events after the race instead of rushing off.

Trains

We have the local train calls the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit ). It’s the only local public transport train. Not to worry we just need one, and its pretty well connected. Waiting time at max is less than 8 minutes, but usually around 4 minutes. A sub-train system calls the LRT covers the community area, well that is not within the F1 circuit vicinity, so I won’t mention that

To reach F1 area, its likely you’ll need to stop at City-Hall or Raffles-Place station (5 minute walk) or Kallang MRT (free shuttle). Mode of payment is by cash or local ATM cards at automated ticket booth. You’ll then be given a train pass call the EZLink, which is a contactless smartcard.

Tap on the gate to enter/exit the train area. Train services during F1 weekend are extended during this period. Fares usually don’t exceed more than $3, unless of course you’re planning to tour one end of Singapore to the other. A word of advice, no photography within train area, they’re very sensitive about this

Taxis

Local taxi operators will impose an extra $5 surcharge for passengers who are picked up from the Marina Bay F1 circuit location. Only Prime Taxis (6778 0808) will not follow-suit in the $5 surcharge . The surcharge will come into effect when the F1 week starts which is 10.30pm to 12am Friday and Saturday. While on race day Sunday, 9.30pm to 12am

  1. Prime Taxi +65 6778 0808
  2. Yellow Top Cab +65 6552 1111
  3. Smart Taxi +65 6485 7777
  4. CityCab +65 6552 1111
  5. Silvercab +65 6363 6888
  6. Comfort Taxi +65 6552 1111
  7. TransCab +65 6555 3333
  8. SMRT Taxis +65 6555 8888

Parking Lots

I truly recommend you using public transport if you’re heading down head to Marina area. People can still move around the Marina F1 area up to Friday where it will then be cordoned off for ticket holders only. I expect there will be a ‘battle’ for parking spots and will be harder to find an available one as more than usual people converge to Marina area. There are my recommendations for finding parking spots. You won’t have any access to Marina Square as it is located within the circuit park

  • Suntec City: 3000+ lots (Parking charges unchanged)
  • Raffles City: 1000+ lots (Note that Bras Basah Road is the only entry point)
  • Chijmes: 96 lots (basement) / 40 lots (forecourt)
  • Funan Digitalife Mall: 337 cars lots / 18 motorcycles lots (Parking charges increased from $2 to $8 from fifth hour)

Boats

The Singapore Flyer is prominently within the F1 Singapore track circuit. So to complement the current designated bus shuttle service which comes every 15 minutes (peak) and 30 minutes (off-peak), there’s a free boat ride to any Flyer patrons. The boat ferry service is back and forth from the Flyer pontoon to Clarke Quay. On F1 days coming this weekend, you can hop onto the boat ride for $5 for any F1 valid ticket holder

Hi my name is Sha. I run this Formula One fansite blog. This is not the official Singapore GP website, their link is here. My first real memories of watching TV, when I was young was recalling vivid images of my sporting heroes like Ayrton Senna. With the Singapore GP debuting in my country, I decided to setup a fun blog on F1
